A Hot Summer Night

The dedicated volunteers from the Sandy Utah Canyon View Stake and  the Cottonwood Heights Utah Brighton Stake along with the  faithful service missionaries were busy this evening.

Zucchini, cucumbers, crookneck squash and  zephyr  squash were harvested.  The tomatoes were tied up to the poles.  Weeding occurred in the field and growboxes. A drip line was installed for the tomatillo crop.   An additional growbox full of  peas were removed and sent to the compost pile.

The  Sandy  Utah  Crops  has  provided  the  Bishop's  Storehouse  with 758  lbs of  produce  to  date.

A Productive Evening

The helpful volunteers from the Sandy Utah West Stake, Salt Lake Big Cottonwood Stake and the Salt Lake  Butler West Stake assisted the faithful service missionaries this evening.

The peas, zucchini and yellow squash was harvested.  The pea crops were harvested and then the remaining plants were removed.  The carrot seedlings were planted. Spaghetti squash and various types of melons were planted in the field.  Weeding occurred in the field.  Weed cloth was installed in the field for future crops. 

The Sandy  Vegetable Project has provided 609 lbs of produce for the Bishop's Storehouse to date.

An Ideal Morning to Volunteer

The helpful volunteers from the Sandy Utah East Stake, Salt Lake  South Cottonwood Stake and the Salt Lake  Butler Stake  along with the dedicated service missionaries were busy  this morning.

Zucchini, crookneck  squash and lettuce  were harvested.  Pumpkins were planted in the field. Carrots were  planted and harvested.  Peppers and tomatillos had cages installed around the plants.  Gravel was moved.  Pole cucumber vines were pruned and were trained to climb the netting.

A Peaceful Evening to Volunteer

The  dedicated volunteers from  the Sandy Utah Mount Jordan  Stake, Draper Utah Stake and the  Salt  Lake  Cottonwood Stake along with the faithful service missionaries were busy this evening.

Zucchini, crookneck squash and peas were harvested. Lettuce seeds were planted in the greenhouse.  Melons and various types of squash transplants were planted in  the field.  The remaining carrots, hoops  and irrigation system was removed from a carrot bed in order to plant a new carrot crop.  The trim on the temporary greenhouse was installed.  Part of the tomato plants were initially trained to climb the wooden frames.  The Florida weave was used to contain the tomato crops were trained to climb  up  the  twine. The corn and melon crops were weeded.

Many Helpful Hands

The faithful volunteers from the Sandy Utah Willow Creek Stake, Draper  Utah Crescent View Stake and the Draper Utah Mountain Point Stake  along with the dedicated service missionaries were busy this evening.

The peas, zucchini, zephyr  squash  and yellow crookneck were harvested.  The pumpkins, melons,  squash were planted in the field.  Weed cloth had holes burned in the material for transplants and grommets assembled     in order to install in the field.  The trim on the temporary greenhouse  was painted.

A Breezy Peaceful Morning

The dedicated volunteers from the Sandy Utah Hidden Valley Stake and  Sandy Utah Crescent Park Stake assisted the faithful service missionaries were busy this  morning.

Zucchini was harvested.  Pumpkins and sweet dumpling squash transplants were  planted in the field.  The temporary greenhouse had hardy board installed on the exterior.  The corn was planted by seed in  the  field.  The peppers had cages installed over the plants.  Additional weed cloth was installed in the field.

The Sandy Vegetable Project has provided 331 lbs of produce for the Bishop's Storehouse to date.

A Productive Evening in the Garden

The helpful volunteers from the Sandy Utah Granite View Stake,  Sandy Utah Alta View Stake and the South Jordan Utah River Stake  assisted the dedicated service missionaries this evening.

Many varieties of lettuce, green peas and zucchini were harvested.  The permanent greenhouse committee met.  Additional weed cloth was installed in the field.  Several growboxes were weeded.  New cloth awnings were installed over the crop washing stations. 

We appreciate  our  many  faithful  volunteers  and  missionaries.

A Field Day

The many dedicated volunteers from the Draper Utah Eastridge Stake and Youth Homeschooling Group assisted the faithful service missionaries this evening.

The temporary greenhouse and weedcloths survived the prolonged high wind. The new little transplants planted on Saturday didn't  survive the high wind.

Additional weed cloths were placed in the field after the dirt clumps  were removed.  The seedlings were replanted.  An overgrown carrot  bed was removed.  

Leaf  lettuce was harvested and donated to the Bishop's Storehouse.

Planting in the Field

The helpful members of the Sandy  Utah Granite Stake, Sandy  Utah  Crescent North Stake and the Salt Lake Wasatch Stake along with the  dedicated service missionaries were busy this morning.

The weed  cloth was installed in the field.  The various varieties of   winter squash were planted in the field.  The greenhouse panels were  installed.  The peppers and squash were checked for insects.

The Work Before the Wind Event

The good members from the Sandy Utah Central Stake, Sandy  Utah Cottonwood Creek Stake and the Sandy Utah Crescent  South Stake and the helpful service missionaries were busy this  evening.

Lettuce was harvested!  The field was raked in order to remove more  dirt clumps.  Field weed barriers had additional anchors installed against the strong winds expected tomorrow. Weeding occurred in  many of the growboxes.

The Work Goes On

Dedicated volunteers from the Salt Lake Cottonwood Heights Stake, Sandy Utah Hillcrest Stake and the West Jordan Utah Hertitage Stake assisted  the  faithful  service  missionaries  this  evening.

The field was raked again to continue to remove dirt clods. Tomato cages were installed on tomato plants. The carrots were weeded.  Two growboxes were being tilled in preparation for planting.

Many Helpful Volunteers

The helpful  volunteers  from  the Sandy  Utah  Crescent  Ridge  Stake and the Sandy Utah Crescent Stake assisted the faithful  service  missionaries this morning.

Fourteen rows of corn was planted.  Pumpkins, melons, squash  seeds were planted in the greenhouse.  Zucchini and zephyr  squash were planted in the growboxes.  The drainage trench irrigation water was re-directed to the corn rows.  The black netting was placed over the cabbage, cauliflower and broccoli to keep the non-beneficial butterflies away.  The tomato cages were placed over the tomatoes.  The field  was raked  again  to  remove  more  dirt  clumps.

Hooray for the Garden

The Sandy Utah Mount Jordan Stake, Draper Utah Stake and the Salt  Lake South Cottonwood Stake along with the helpful service  missionaries were busy this evening.

The winter squash was planted in the greenhouse.  The concrete around the field drain was installed. Tomatoes were planted.  Weed block in the was installed   

We appreciate our dedicated many volunteers and service  missionaries who willingly serve.

The First Lettuce Harvest of the Season

The helpful volunteers from the Sandy Utah Canyon View Stake, the Sandy Utah West Stake and the Cottonwood Heights Utah Brighton 

Sweet bell peppers and tomotoes were transplanted. Weeding occurred in and in between the growboxes. The forms from the drainage pipe in the field were removed. The corn rows were prepared for planting.  The transplant trays were washed and sanitized.

The first harvest of the season was red leaf lettuce and romaine  lettuce!  Healthy lettuce grown to organic standards will be delivered to the Bishop's Storehouse this evening.
