Faithful Volunteers Make a Difference

Helpful volunteers from the Salt Lake Butler Stake and the Sandy Utah Lone Peak Stake harvested lettuce, broccoli, cucumbers, various types of squash, various types of peppers, tomatoes and melons.

The Sandy Vegetable Project has provided 12,144 lbs of produce for the Bishop's Storehouse to date.

About Us

The Sandy Vegetable Project was started in 1978 by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a church welfare farm. The vegetables grown at this farm are sent to the Bishop's Storehouse in Sandy, UT, or to the Utah Food Bank. There are 20+ volunteer service-missionaries called to work at the farm each harvest season from spring until fall. The missionaries oversee the many volunteers who come from 44 stakes around the valley to help with the work. During the 2017 season, more than 42,000 pounds of vegetables were harvested at the farm for the bishop's storehouse.
